Technology Helps Speech-Impaired to Communicate!

Adam Lab and JCS Computer Resource Corporation work together to donate a unit to Carye Price from Red Banks, Mississippi.

From their inception in 1984 to the present, ADAMLAB, LLC has been manufacturing high quality, low cost augmentative communication equipment for speech challenged individuals. “Our goal is to put “speech within reach” for all those in need, and Peachtree Accounting Systems has helped us reach that goal by implementing an efficient accounting and inventory program.”

The entire product line is easy to use and full of features. They use digitized voice recording, meaning you may program each device in your own voice. The devices range from the single level Hawk and Listen To Me units to the Superhawk Plus with 72 levels, 72 minutes of speech and auditory scanning. The Lighthawk has visual scanning with 8 LED’s that light up the entire cell when activated!

ADAMLAB also offers hands-on training sessions throughout the year to familiarize Speech Language Pathologists and many others with how to program and use their devices.

JCS Computer Resource Corporation began working with ADAM Lab about 6 months ago and the two companies decided to jointly provide a piece of equipment to a single mother from Mississippi who was in an automobile wreck 7 years ago and lost half the frontal lobe of her brain. While her injuries were major she has been able to return to a state of being able to feed and dress herself. Carye has the ability to perform simple day to day activities but, her speech never returned. Hopefully, the Superhawk will enable Carye to communicate with her care givers and her now 8 year old son.
